Some would say that if this were true it would just put the entire case to bed, that these two families (and now, perhaps, the public) can forget about the whole thing. I’m not going to agree with that at all, but the police are certainly trying to play down the whole thing now.
As much as they might try, there will always be questions to be answered for the police in any serious case that involves these kind of events.
