The council, which includes bushfire experts and community members, said that a community appeal would be needed to ensure any benefits to Tasmanians for housing the park would be fully recognised and recognised as public money being spent.

“It will be up to us all to continue to work together to develop this valuable resource into a healthy environment for generations to come.”
The park itself had been open to the public since 1996 and had been open to the public since 2001.

Residents were also consulted on the park’s future in 2010, with plans to turn it into a “shared experience”.
‘More work needed’

“It’s good news for the residents of The Beachwood Nature Reserve and for everyone in the community.
“The council wants Tasmanians to know that the plan is still evolving and will provide more work needs to be done.
“However, the changes will open a valuable link in the park and the development of a range of sustainable local, regional and national attractions.”
In December a private company had bought the land from the original owners, and had planned to turn it into a high-rise development known as the Water and Power Park.
But it was revealed this month that the land would stay open to the public and that they could now stay there.
